Ultrasonic Transducers

NdtXducer designs and manufactures high performance ultrasonic transducers for industrial, medical and scientific applications. Our products can be developed according to your precise needs in a 200 kHz – 200 MHz range of frequency in order to meet your requirements.

What are Ultrasonic Transducers?

Ultrasonic transducers and ultrasonic sensors are devices that generate or sense ultrasound energy. They can be divided into three broad categories: transmitters, receivers and transceivers. Transmitters convert electrical signals into ultrasound, receivers convert ultrasound into electrical signals, and transceivers can both transmit and receive ultrasound. In a similar way to radar and sonar, ultrasonic transducers are used in systems which evaluate targets by interpreting the reflected signals. For example, by measuring the time between sending a signal and receiving an echo the distance of an object can be calculated. Passive ultrasonic sensors are basically microphones that detect ultrasonic noise that is present under certain conditions.

Transducer Selections

Transducer Selection

ndtXducer® offers three performance styles of transducers: R, G and P. To better determine which of these performance styles is best for your application please read our technical information on this page or contact us. Transducer certification with real time waveoform and frequency certification is included with every transducer at no charge.

Angle Beam Transducers

Angle Beam Transducers

ndtXducer® angle beam transducers and wedges allow the use of a complete set of wedges with different refracted angles for weld inspection or flaw detection, where flaws have angular orientation with respect to the material surface.

Contact Transducers

Contact Transducers

ndtXducer® single element contact longitudinal wave transducers are used for general purpose manual ultrasonic inspection where test material is relatively flat and smooth. Contact transducers provide high sensitivity for better penetration and are ruggedly constructed for extended life service under the roughest testing conditions.

Needle Sensors

Needle Sensors

At ndtXducer® we manufacture miniature needle type sensors for industrial and laboratory use in ultrasonic and acoustic measurements. Sensors can be made with Microdot and Push-Pin connector, or with integral potted coaxial cable. All sensors are handmade, therefor there are always some variations between individual devices.

Shear Wave Transducers

Shear Wave Transducers

These model transducers introuce shear waves directly into the test piece without the use of refraction. Generated shear wave propagate perpendicular to the test surface. Ratio of the longitudinal to shear wave component is very low. Direction of the shear wave polarization is normally in line with side connector, other is marked.
